My thought is this - have a strict deadline. If players can't meet it, the player who made the last play wins.

This allows hiccups to occur, and still get the game in. Turns might become "hot potato" at the deadline approaches, as each player would want to make the last move.

The deadline would a compromise, somewhere between playing fast and allowing for life.

As I plan to be on vacation for a week, I would like to open registration for our 13th BBL tournament a couple of days earlier than usual! Same link as always: https://tinyurl.com/ze-bbl

As with the previous tournaments, the number of open seats is limited to 36 players with the group seeding and tournament games begin on July 26. If you would like to participate, please make sure to register quickly! I will update the website with the list of participants upon my return.

Similarly to the previous tournaments, when you go to our website to sign up, you’ll need to check “I agree” box, confirming that you will follow BBL Rules and Code of Conduct, submit results within 24 hours, and begin all group games by August 1, 2022.

IMPORTANT: Knowing that we're in the middle of summer, please assess your ability to complete your BBL-13 games without delays or postponements before registering.

Additionally, any players who allowed their games to be timed out in the previous tournament, will NOT have an automatic placement upon registration. If you one of these players and want to participate in BBL-13, please contact me directly first.

With BBL-13 being open, we are starting the third year of our BBL tournaments!

The group seeding, based on the snapshot of participants’ ratings as of July 26, has been completed and all games can now begin! As usual, we will have 36 players, so each of you will be guaranteed at least 17 games in the group tournament.

I would again like to welcome all returning players to our BBL-13 tournament! I think this was the first time when the tournament was filled with returning players only!

As always, I would like to reiterate that this is a blitz league and when you signed up, you agreed to play fast, abide by the rules and code of conduct, and timely report individual results on our BBL website.

IMPORTANT: Please update your challenge criteria to ensure you can be challenged by your group opponents OR make sure you challenge them yourself first! All of your 17 group games must be started by August 1!

In order to see who your group opponents are, please go to the home page of the BBL website (https://tinyurl.com/ze-bbl - bookmark this page!) where you will find the link to the Results page. Everything is now set up on that page, including a ZE challenge link for each group opponent, created for your convenience. Click that link for each of your group opponents and your BBL-13 challenge will automatically open on ZE.

The home page of the BBL website also has the result submission form which the winner of each individual game should fill in upon completion of the game in the following format:
Player A - Player B 1:0, Gammon (if applicable). Remember to submit your results within 24 hours of completion to avoid any delays.

As usual, I intend to update the results multiple times a day. In order to speed the pace up, please review the results page often, and, if you are not seeing some of your results, please don’t hesitate to submit them even if lost a game. Your assistance here is greatly appreciated.

Today is the official start of BBL-13 - the day when all games must at least be started!

We now have over 81% of group games already completed, which makes it the fastest tournament start ever! Eight (!) players have already completed all their 17 games and many others are close by - thank you very much for your fast play in this tournament!

IMPORTANT: Please take a moment to review the results page on our BBL website and make sure all of your completed games were captured. If you haven't been able to begin any of your outstanding games or haven't submitted your results, please do it today to stay in compliance with the Rules and Code of Conduct.

Any non-reported results of your victories will be marked as yellow card warnings on the results page. However, I will not be issuing warnings to those players whose opponents resigned their games.

We are off to a great start, let's make sure we finish this tournament in the same blitz fashion!

I would like to welcome all returning players and a few newcomers to our BBL-14 tournament!

Based on the snapshot of participants’ ratings as of September 26, the group seeding has been completed and all games can begin! We initially recruited 36 players but two of them had to withdraw before group seeding and one more had their rating fall below 1700. Therefore we're starting with 33 and the remaining seats will be kept open until the official start date of the tournament (Oct.1)
