YC rule Thank you all for a good discussion! I always appreciate players’ opinions and happy to make adjustments to the Rules or Code of Conduct when it is warranted. In this particular case, I still believe that game winners should be responsible for reporting results as there is a clear incentive for them to get their points counted. At the same time, I do constantly remind players in my forum posts to periodically review the table of results and submit missing items even if they lose a game that was not reported. The goal of issuing YC is not to punish anyone (we haven’t had anyone getting five YC in a tournament since the rule was implemented) but rather to ensure players are paying proper attention to the rules they agreed to follow during registration. Let’s just all make a collective effort that all results are promptly reported to avoid delays and keep the nature of our blitz league! |

… Same thing happened to me in the last tournament - my opponent resigned, I had no idea, and ended up with a ding in the YC column. I agree with BossyBear - go BOSSIES go! |

New rule I have a proposal- why don’t we start rewarding people for finishing their games early? Whoever finishes her games first during the group stage gets 18 points, next person 17, etc. Then these points serve as a first tie- breaker in case of participants finishing with the same number of wins… This is a blitz league, yet so far we did not have anything to reward people for playing fast, and this change would achieve that! |

@Blokhin2 This is a very interesting proposal! I am all for rewarding people for playing fast, however this needs to be thought through for any unintended impacts - for example, what if a fast player gets dragged in one or more games by slower players? It also puts more pressure on me to capture all results in the exact order they were received as it could also impact the tiebreakers… I definitely love the concept of rewarding fast players but if we are tying that to the potential playoff appearances, it really needs to be a foolproof approach. Maybe some other incentive ideas? Keep the ideas coming, keeping in mind the overall goal of ensuring that our league lives to its Blitz name! Best, Leoton |

I approve of any idea of rewarding (sugar) ..... and I am not against some penalties ******** but ******* We have not problem with determine "a first tie- breaker in case of participants finishing with the same number of wins". Leoton did it right till now… My heretical idea: in this blitz league - lets continue first 4, fastest players in group , no points, only time Rossi |

@Leoton Last thing we need is to put more pressure on you 😆 No need to worry about the order of exact time of the game completion, we could you some cutoff times (like you do for the ratings); for example, every day at 9am your time or whatever is convenient for you. If a couple of players finish all their games simultaneously using such cutoffs they will split the points. Again, the point is to incentivize fast playing, hence the idea of using the speed of play to break the ties. As for the issue of being dragged into long games with slower players- how about we set the threshold at 14 or 15 completed games instead of all 17? |

Roadblocks Two problems with fastest player suggestions: 1) each BBL, I'm unable to challenge one or more players as they are playing max games (25). If I can't start games how can I finish fast. 2) some of us are in Australia. Time difference here is a killer in trying to find times when competitors are online, hence hard to finish quickly. This has to be based on factors that are under our control. |

Starting date/fastest players It can be confusing and difficult for some to get ready to start the BBL when the "official start date" says June 1, yet some begin as soon as the seeding is set (ie. May 26). That's a 5 day jump start for some. So if we are rewarding the fastest players, some may be waiting/planning until the start date, and others begin as soon as they see the seeding. Just our thoughts when discussing and considering the above suggestions. |

BBL-12 is complete! Congratulations to Blokhin2 on his second BBL trophy! A big round of applause to all playoff participants: Maxmator - Finalist Isnogood_68 and Tatus-the-Best - Semifinalists Hamilton 57, Mariusadi, Lilwarrior, and Gem001 - Quarter-finalists A huge thank you to all players for yet another great tournament! We did have a few hiccups with some individual games going too long, but overall we had a pretty good pace this tournament. Let's try to beat it next time and make it even faster! The registration for BBL-13 will be open on July 12th. Please make sure to reserve your seats early as the tournaments tend to get full within a couple of days! IMPORTANT: Knowing that we're in the middle of summer, please assess your ability to complete your BBL-13 games without delays or postponements before registering. See you all back soon! Leoton |
