ranking system I assume, since more points are added for a win than are removed for a loss, that the average score will just keep getting higher and higher. When checking the leaders' statistics, to see how I am doing in comparison, i was quite surprised to find out that many of them have lower percantages of winning games than I would expect (as in, lower than mine!). Also, some of them have more gammon and backgammon losses than wins. So, although I suspect this is a mathematics/statistics issue, it appears to me that the quantity of playing is more rewarding than the quality. Is this so? |

You win and lose the same points in a game You can use me as an example of why win percentage is low and rating is higher than 1500. I only play higher rated players. You win more/lose less when you are playing higher rated player. I would only get 1 or 2 points for beating a 1300 rated player, but win 5 or more points for beating a 1700 rated player. If I lose to a 1300 rated player though I would be losing around 10 points. You gan improve your win percentage by playing a bunch of 1300 players, but one loss and you need around 10 wins to get your rating points back. |

The More Games.... Also, the more games you play the lower your percentage of winning games will become. Don't know wny but that's the way it is! |

tougher comp I imagine the players at the top have even-ish %s because they are playing each other. When I was working my way up, i was almost at 60%. But, now That I been playing tougher opponents, I'm at 54%. Same thing happened with my gammons. |
