 first roll-doubles / and doubling cube Howdy, i love this site. There are a couple things i would like to see, though: I am far from being an expert at the different types of backgammon rules. But, I was always taught, for the first roll, each player rolls a die and the player with the higher die uses those cast dice as his/her first roll. That way, you can't start off with doubles. I really don't know which way is more common, but i definitely like no doubles on first roll. Having and opponent get first play AND 6-6 is too deep a hole to climb out of. ----------------------------- I would love if you could pick how many points you play to when challenging someone. Whether ratings change after each game or each match doesn't matter to me. But, i always find backgammon more fun if you can play to a score higher than 1. ( like 3 , 21, 101 or anything). With that going we could use a doubling cube. Which adds another layer of strategy that I find highly entertaining Keep up the great work here! |

hmmmm I guess, i posted this in wrong forum. oh well, I am probably wrong on one topic, and I am now seeing the other topic has been brought up a lot already. Well Rafeal, now you got me wondering if they were actually on the second roll and I have just been not paying attention very well. I could have sworn i'd seen first roll doubles; but if you never seen them, I must be wrong |

hmmmmmm In over a thousand games on this site, I've never had or seen doubles as the first roll. It might have been your first roll, or your opponent's first roll, but not THE first roll. ZE? |
