Ratings Does anyone know how the ratings are calculated? I read somewhere backgammon ratings take into account the length of the game so you score more points for winning a longer game but I’m not sure if that’s true on this site. I thought this site used the Elo system can anyone confirm or point me to an explanation. |

… The formula that Zooescape uses is here and it is very basic, based solely on rating and game outcome: https://zooescape.com/help-answer.pl?question=14 Some sites, like Backgammon Galaxy, use a more involved calculation that takes into account your error rate and luck factor. Part of the calculation includes factoring the number of individual decisions that a player had to make over the course of the game, so a longer game would almost by necessity involve making more decisions. Whether that automatically translates to a higher increase in rating, I'm not sure. Here is Backgammon Galaxy's explanation of their rating system: https://backgammongalaxy.com/academy/f-a-q |
