Strategy - Challenge those I want to be like. There is one player who beats me most of the time and I am rated about 100 points above her. Then, there is this player who I beat most of the time and he is about 100 points above me. It doesn't seem to matter if I challenge above or below my rank: I loose some and win some, so, I have decided to challenge above most of the time. I wonder if others have had similar experiences. b99Ray |

Agreed.. I like playing better players as well which is why I stick to the CT's. My kids seem to get a kick out of playing the ladder though. |

Play everybody I think that in order to be a complete player, one should play everybody and not just a small select group of players. Case in point - I know of a player who likes to stick to competition play only to find himself knocked out of the competition in round 1 - despite being the top ranked player in his group he only managed to score 3 points in round one. Or I can think of a player who attempted the "Race to the Top" ladder competition, only to fail miserably - on his 3rd or 4th attempt. In this case he used up his allotted hundred games before he even got into the top 100. My understanding is that he is still languishing somewhere mid-table and appears to be going nowhere fast. Other players simply go for Ratings and only play games that will improve their rankings - See Top rated players. Play everybody - enjoy the games. With one or two exceptions - most people do. |

Agreed.. You should definitely play anyone who challenges you. I no longer play the ladder because it is not much of a challenge but encourage my kids to play there. Agree about ratings as well. My kids love the ladder which doesn't help my rating but who cares! They are learning how to play BG and the importance of good sportsmanship. |
