Vote for new features/site improvements

It is clear that this site is constantly improving, and that the developers are very active in adding new features and site improvements.

I noticed in another thread that the admin mentioned a to-do list. My suggestion is that admin make the to-do list public and players get a chance to vote for which features they would like implemented first.

Subscribers could have 5 votes, and non-subscribers 1vote, for example. Votes could be changed at any time.

Players might also be able to add new suggestions to that list (moderated).

Example:
Each subscriber is given 5 "votes" or "tokens", each of which can be placed on one 'improvement'. At any time, the player could recall their token, and place it on a different feature on the list.

The total number of tokens placed on each improvement would give the developers a clear indication of what the subscribers would like from the site.

Practical example:

Before voting:

You have 5 votes left. Please place your votes...

- Make a trophy for players that have reached number 1 on the ladder................Vote
- Change the site's name to Zoo Escape Backgammon........................................Vote
- List a single page with all past opponents with win/loss stats...........................Vote

After Voting:
(Player has chosen option 3)

You have 4 votes left. Please place your votes...

- Make a trophy for players that have reached number 1 on the ladder.................Vote
- Change the site's name to Zoo Escape Backgammon..........................................Vote
- List a single page with all past opponents with win/loss stats.............................Selected - Recall Vote

The site would then have a display showing:
.............................................................................................................................................Total number of votes by all players
- Make a trophy for players that have reached number 1 on the ladder.................23
- Change the site's name to Zoo Escape Backgammon..........................................17
- List a single page with all past opponents with win/loss stats.............................44

Admin would then know that option 3 is the most urgent feature to improve.

None of this 'Girie' things

We need more forms of competition. We need mini-tourneys!!! Challanges ladders and monthly tourneys are getting boring. More forms of competition!!!!!!!

More forms of competition!?

I believe it is an option that would be welcomed by 90% of the players on site. For example, a player could challenge another player to a short match, 5 points, 7 points or 9 points. Players could see before hand what there exceptions might be based on the rating system in place and accept or decline, but for example to make things interesting a 100 point floor would be in place for all challenges and if you refuse a challenge there would be a two week period were you could not issue or accept new challenges, but as long as you accept challenges you could play in as many matches as you want! This might promote more competition amongst players from the same rating group.

point matches would be great

Value of winning a 3 or 5 pt match shold be different than a 1 pt match. That might be easy to do by simply making 3 pts match start with 3 pts value. However, then you lose the value of a gammon or backgammon since the winner to 3 pts or 5 pts wins the match which includes gammons and backgammons. I don't have a solution.
Also anything longer than 5 pt matchs would take a while, especially with the feature of 3 days per move or more.

yes

"..For example, a player could challenge another player to a short match, 5 points, 7 points or 9 points." -Dinosaur

That would be awesome; have always wanted that.

Thanks all! We've started a new thread that will appear at the top of all threads regarding this idea. So please post your ideas there! And by posting your ideas, or by supporting other ideas, you'll essentially be voting
