This is very frustrating! Such slow play - I'm trying fror minimum games, but it's not going well.... Very slow and the last couple of games I've lost from winning positions as opponents doubled out..... i might have to change strategy and play more games. The problem with only playing 5 games t onc is that you slip down the ladder while waiting for opponents to move

Yes - it becomes a fine balancing act to play enough games to keep moving upward yet not too many to use up all your games.

For what it is worth, it took me 50 games to get to position 50 and then a further 36 games to get to number 1.

I think I was lucky in that I got from bottom to top in both record time and in the fewest games. I can't see that happening again soon.

Anyway, good luck with your challenge. You still have lots of games in hand and I have no doubt that you will get to the top inside 100 games.

I had two massive setbacks yesterday, losing to Achilles57 and patjeb after being in almost unassailable winning positions against both. I got the dreaded 65 "point stripper" in the first and then a run of 66 64 66 64 62 61 66 did for me in the latter after I had 3 checkers off with patjeb still on the bar!!!

Those defeats probably cost me at least 50 places.

Please pull me off the list. I had some bad luck along the way, and playing 6 games max makes it very very slow. I retired and will start over again.

The race from the bottom means patiently wading thru a wasteland of non-playing people who seem to be content at making one move every three days. You will spend many hours just watching for the "My Turn" light to go on, hoping it has an "L" next to it. It's not until you get above 60 that you finally find some action. So, if you try this, have patience, be nice, have lots of other games going, and stay away from those playing over 200 games at a time. Of course, you will have plenty of time to fix the house, do the gardening and read a book. Maybe even give you the opportunity to converse with a real, live person! Good luck
