@itisme

I think itisme's option 2 might be best, but play 3 games against each other to even out the dice a bit.

You could after all have three teams locked together on points and win percentage. You might have to virtually replay the whole group stage. It could take forever.

But I am going to hold out for head-to-head record to take precedent over win% as a first breaker. It really doesn't make sense the other way round.

REQUEST & VOTE

Whatever is decided here pz also put it on KK's website for the reference of future tourneys as most players don't visit forums so host should make sure this that all NEW rules which are decided here are placed on a place where every1 can take a look whenever he/she want.. thanks

My vote is:
2. OR team member nominate a player to play represent their team

Playoff tie-breakers

It seems doubling the captain v. Captain game has no support, so we will use a one-game playoff.
How about we do this like a penalty shootout:
Should there be a draw in a playoff game, each captain will give me a list of the members of his team in order that he wants them to play in these one-game playoffs.

If the quarterfinal game is drawn, player 1 will play against the other team's player 1.
If the same team draws the semi-final, player 2 on the list will have to play and,
if that team also draws in the final, they will have to use player 3 on their list.

Tie breaker

Since all regular matches are only one game matches, have each captain pick one player for a one game deciding match.

Should gammons count?

How about we count gammons, should a match be drawn, before we revert to a one-game playoff?

should gammons count?

In the original rules, gammons and backgammons don't matter, only the one game winner. After all the games have been played, should not be the time to decide that gammons should now count.
Perhaps, in the next Nations tournament, the idea of gammons should come in to play if we are playing to 5 or more points.
Reason: If we are playing and I have a good chance of losing a gammon or bkg I may move my pips out sooner to try to avoid that. However, if we are not counting gammons, I will stay back longer, even to the end, hoping for a late hit, without worrying about losing the extra points.
Different strategy based on the already set rules of the tournament.

Should gammons count?

@To all captains:

I meant should gammons count as a tie breaker IN THE PLAYOFFS ahead of a one-man playoff game. I am trying to shorten the knockout rounds.

Oldman69 says no. Any other opinions?

As ex Captain of Team Canada # 1

The perfection exist.

When we create a format of a tournament, we always do the best at the moment we do it.
So at that moment, the format we create was perfect for the author,

When other person see it, they give their opinions, positive or negative, than we dicuss to decide so we change it or not.

But the most important thing, we have to start the project.

To yiannakos: do not change your format of Nations Tournament II. Continue the discuss about it to ameliorate the Nations Tournament III.

Thanks to all, Bonne chance
