Any Texans out there?

Is someone willing to take Texasron's place on the Texas team until he gets sorted with ZE?

Texasron back in!!

Hello to all and thanks to everyone who has offered suggestions. It seems the only answer was to create a new e-mail address. So Zoo Escape now lets me make & accept challenges and I've started NT7 games again. Thanks once more & good luck to all!

Camaraderie among team members is one of our objectives!

Dear BG friends,

Somebody suggested that I should share with you all the great day the Dutch NT6 / 7 team spent together yesterday. During NT6, we met for the first time and as that was such a huge success, last August, when the NT7 was announced, we decided to meet again. Yesterday was the first day everybody was available. Of course, the Netherlands is probably the smallest country that participates at the NT, still if you travel from north to south, it takes hours and although we met a bit in the middle, two players had to travel almost three hours to get to Amsterdam. So it does take willingness and effort, but it is so much worth it.
We met in an 17th century gin and liquor distillery, which has been transformed into a great pub where they serve more than 300 (!) beers, and what is so enchanting about the place, they have a big open cupboard full of games and everybody is invited to sit as long as they like, play games and have fun. For this occasion, Hamilton 57 had prepared for the second time a BG clinic for us, where he taught us so many interesting things about probabilities, opening moves, how to spread our checkers etc etc .... and together with quite a few beers and pies, it all went in very well together. As such a wonderful place really gets crowded around 5 pm, we moved on to a lovely Mediterranean place where they serve the best Mezze in town, and where the owner is a great fan of BG too.

We had such a glorious day together, playing & discussing our moves and everybody just got their last train home again   Should any of you ever have the chance to meet each other, I can highly recommend so, as it is so much fun to meet each other in person. And of course, it is much more fun to play and to chat, when you know the face behind the name

While, I write this down, I have to think that today on the 11th of November, it is 100 years ago that the First World War ended, a war where all the countries which now participate in our NT, were involved in some way or the other. It is so much better to play a game and negotiate, instead of making war, especially as the weapons mankind has developed can kill all life on earth and our dear planet too. As far as I know, there is only one example in history where a bloody war was avoided, due to a couple of games of bg or chess. The sources are not that clear as this event took place in the 13th century and with some players I have already shared this very inspirational piece of history.
Most of you have probably heard how bloody the crusades have been and it was thanks to the German Emperor Frederik II (1184-1250 AD) who was raised and educated in Sicily/Italy and who became familiar with the Arabic customs and language, that he was able to negotiate a peaceful return for the Christians to Jerusalem, which lasted a couple of decades.

So I wish you all lots of fun playing BG and I wished more politicians would follow this enlightened example and play, which is so close to the nature of man, instead of ventilating their anger through war. Eventually it is a personal choice how civilized you want to become and how creative you are willing to be, to try to find new solutions to matters which seem to be unsolvable at a first glance.

Many thanks to Hamilton57, Liberty, Madalina and Scarrd who form such a wonderful team. As with almost everything in life, and so also with BG, you cannot play it on your own and the quality and fun of a game or any other pursuit in life will depend on how much you are willing to invest and how fast you are willing to act. And don't we all have a great longing for a quality of life ? So enjoy & make the most out of it

Well done!

How great that the Nations tourneys have inspired meetings like this one!

PS. I am sure the Dutch captain deserves much credit for the get-together!
