One thing I forgot about USA3 v. Australia is that it's a 3x4 match (12 games instead of 16).

So, the correct scenarios:
USA3 will win first place with a victory or draw or even a 7-5 loss against Australia.
CIS can still win first place if Australia win 8-4 or better.
