tournaments

I personally don't see what the big deal is if a tournament takes a month or four. Its still just games being played on line with a bunch of moves each time you log on. With 50 or more games going on, who cares if they're tournament, ladder, or games for fun?

That said, I would second the motion earlier to have separate tournaments for subscribers to ZE. I think that for the most part, subscribers make moves more regularly (some do so many times a day) and are less likely to stall. It might also encourage more folks to subscribe.

As for the tournaments themselves, I think the rules should be the same as any other games going on. Same vacation rules, timeouts, etc. My only proposed change would be that if you win a round, you have to check a box declining to participate in the next round, otherwise you're automatically signed up. That would prevent the winners from accidentally not continuing.

Just my $0.02

LONG??????

On GK the chess tourneys take 1-2 YEARS. I cannot believe anyone is complaining about a multiround tourney taking 6 months.

following the opening comment of this thread

Putting people in your ignoring list just because you've lost a couple of straight games to them sounds legal and natural, but at the same time a little childish.

What do you think?

Coming from a chess background....

The first thing that goes through my mind is what is their rating? Am I losing a ton with each loss. Sometimes someone just 'has our number'. Coming from Whitedice's eyes (no offence meant) did they drag the game out. Bottom line is that everyone needs to manage their ignore list the way they feel is correct. Me I have nobody in mine...yet

Not familiar to me:

"...coming from ones eyes.", nor that I mentioned the ignore list.

should we form a support group?

"I'm also at Frietes Ignore list"

as am I. I assume he just wants to limit who he (?) plays -- he's usually not playing a lot of games -- which is ok with me. Plenty of other people want to play.

Is Friete okay?

Me, too! I guess I am on his black list along with others... even, I tried to send him a message..... BLOCKED! Bad sportmanship? You decide!

This conversation might be one way of getting on Frietjes list!
