Suggestion for faster match play tournaments For a future tourney how about imposing a "you must play at least X matches in a week" rule. If you don't finish X matches in a week you are removed from the Tourney. We could make 'X' any number but I would suggest starting with 5. The number could be changed as we discover what is the best and fairest number to impose. So as not to exclude anyone we could adjust the number as necessary to hold tourneys for players that can't finish 5 matches in a week. I personally would like to play faster and see Tourney's end within 1 month after its start but perhaps that is too much to ask when dealing with different schedules across this blue planet we all live on. Thoughts? |

Faster Play All this talk about playing faster and hurry, hurry, hurry takes the fun out of playing this tournament. I have my regular backgammon matches, ladder matches and tournament matches to play as well. I spend about 4 hours a day at this website and I can't finish 5 matches in a week. I guess I live in the wrong time zone. Just saying... |

tournament suggestions What ever format players want, it should be decided at the start. This one is about 25 above average players playing evenly matched cube games and while speedier play is nice, we have a range speeds. From those bordering on OCD disorders (uahskr, r4zz and myself would fit into that category) to those who obviously have busy lives and get online a few times a day. While the speed play has dropped off as the fast players have finished playing each other, the other games will happen over time. We also are playing over a vast range of time zones, so there will be some match ups where both players are never online at the same time. I think this tournament is great and for me the ladder games have little meaning to me now (play/challenge anyone and win more than half you get to the top). With these games you know the opponent is going to be challenging. For those who want a speedy tournament, another tourney now or later could be run for the speedy 8. This could be those finishing the most games so far in this tourney. Those tournaments could also be popular but this current format should stay. There will be a time when someone has to go on holiday and maybe we have a forfeit games policy for that in some tournaments. I possibly have more to say but I want to check if I have any moves to make |
