Friends,

I wanted to welcome 33 returning players and 1 newcomer to our BBL-25 tournament! As of today, we still have TWO openings that I intend to keep for the next few days in case we have any late additions. From the originally registered players, one had to withdraw and another had a rating below 1700.

Based on the snapshot of participants’ ratings as of July 26, the four-group seeding is now set and all games can begin! The top four players from each group will go to the 1/8 finals with the playoff portion of the tournament being conducted on a best-of-three basis. All games must use the BG format only.

As always, I would like to reiterate that this is a blitz league and when you signed up, you agreed to play fast, abide by the rules and code of conduct, and timely report individual results on our BBL website.

IMPORTANT: Please update your challenge criteria to ensure you can be challenged by your group opponents or challenge them yourself first! Check your ignore lists too. Please avoid any delays as all your group games must start by August 1!

In order to see who your group opponents are, please go to the home page of the BBL website (https://tinyurl.com/ze-bbl - bookmark this page!) where you will find the link to the Results page. Everything is set up on that page, including a ZE challenge link for each group opponent, which is created for your convenience. Click that link for each group opponent, and your BBL challenge will automatically open on ZE.

On the home page of the BBL website, you will find the result submission form. The winner of each individual game should fill in this form within 24 hours of completion in the following format: Player A - Player B 1:0, Gammon (if applicable).

As usual, I intend to update the results multiple times a day as I get automated notifications on your result submissions. Please review the results page often, and, if you are not seeing some of your results, please don’t hesitate to submit them even if you lost a game. Your assistance here is greatly appreciated.

Here are a few additional suggestions to speed up the games:
a) Communicate with your opponents to see what time of the day is best for both of you to be online.
b) If you happen to be on the losing side and your game is out of reach, consider resigning and updating the website with the result yourself as your opponent might not notice that the game was over.

Clearly, we are not all as perfect as you!

You will recognise that our game ended prior to the official August 1 start date. Terribly slow.

In addition to being a blitz league, this has always been a friendly tournament. You, writing in our game chat comments like "play faster", "I command you to play fsster" and "Ty, for you obedience" is bombastic, domineering and below civil expectations.

If you don't like the way things are structured, then leave and start your own tournament. Don't attempt to bully others into following your personal preferences when we are complying with the rules and conventions laid out for the competition.

The very first bullet of our league’s Code of Conduct says:

“The Backgammon Blitz League (BBL) is the place for friendly competition among ZooEscape (ZE) players. Please respect your opponents at all times.”

As a reminder, here is the language that every player agrees to during registration:

“I will follow BBL Rules and Code of Conduct, submit my results within 24 hours, and begin all group games per schedule. I understand that failure to comply with the Rules and Code of Conduct will negatively impact my ability to participate in future tournaments.”

Since it is a blitz league, the faster play is absolutely encouraged. However, all communications between players during BBL games and on this forum have to be respectful.

I told you to play faster. Blitz means to play fast so if you don't like the tos you're the problem not me.

Have you even reported the results yet? - I checked yesterday and you still have not after several days.

You said: "don't tell me what to do".

I said "I command you to play faster" lololol.

Everyone is finished except for you and one other very slow player.

Blitz: a sudden, energetic, and concerted effort, typically on a specific task.

BBL-25 is officially over and I am happy to say it was the fastest tournament ever!

I am also very happy to finally win one, I admit, it feels really good!
