18 teams ... not good

3 groups of 6, is a lot of matches to play each other in each group, 15 per group. That's just to get to final eight knockout. Then 2 more matches to get to final two. Teams might lose interest if it's obvious they won't make it to the 8. Just my observation of this format. How about limiting it to 16 with 4 groups of 4. Simple. Last two teams to register get dropped this tourney, or limit it to 2 teams per country. Players should have some connection to the country they play for.

18 teams... another option

Shotslap raises a valid concern here. If we can’t get 16 teams with four people in each team which would be a more preferred format, we could have another option for a 18 team approach: six groups with three teams in each. In this scenario, the six winners march forward to the quarterfinals along with two second place teams that had best overall results. This will require less group matches and the whole tournament may actually go much faster. Thoughts?

16 teams is my choice

I still think that the optimal option is 4 members i team.
4 x4 is optimal, playing, proven, working
3 teams x 6 memb = too long first phase,
6 teams x 3 memb = insufficiently equitable for lower rating teams.

I pondered your concerns.
Yes, groups of six would mean five group games with possible loss of interest towards the end. It would also mean a drawn-out tourney (not sure if that's good or bad).

Groups of three would mean just two group games for each team - after all this effort to recruit them! It would also mean a by-day for each team.

Getting down to 16 would mean an elimination round as I am opposed to arbitrarily throwing out the last two teams. If that were to be the case, we would draw by lot four teams (no two from the same country) with the top two finishers making it to the group stage and the other two being eliminated.

Please tell us which scenario you prefer?

@rosters, Spanish team

Before we come to a decision, is it possible to have the latest update on the teams and its players.
And is the Spanish team, an expat-British team ?
I would be nice to know
