wish there was a way... I wish there was a way to flag players that specifically stall games they know they are losing, just to delay it as long as possible. When your entire game history is available and you can see that the player is specifically holding back on making moves on games when they are 50 or more pips behind... it's pretty childish of the stalling player. guess thats what some players have to do to keep their rank high. |

… The problem is that this is not against the rules. If they are making their moves within the required number of days they're doing nothing wrong. It may be a pain in the ass and it really is unsporting but no member should be allowed to "flag" someone for playing withing the site rules. |

… i understand that... just frustrating because i see in their games list that its not an isolated incident.... just really sad to find someone being so unsportsmanlike. if you're going to take the full amount of time you have allotted making your moves out of careful consideration .. thats one thing. but to make moves every few hours on the games you're winning, and hold off on playing the games you're losing.. just sad. |

… thats the plan as soon as this one stupid game is finally over... in 1 more move on his part |

Ignore list putting the person on the ignore list does nothing to hamper them from keeping on with the same poor sportsmanship which fouls the game for so many others.. especially if it is ladder games that the person is doing it on to maintain rank 1 or there abouts... I say blame and name and everyone and give that person a dose of their own medicine.. challenge them in a game and delay it until the bitter end.. very quickly that players rank will drop rapidly through the inability to finish games if the community as whole polices themselves |

Possible solution. There are definitely people who are selective about which games they play, which is annoying for those who just want to get on with the game. Something that might help, but like many of my strategies in backgammon I may not have thought it through enough is the following. If the site forced a player to play their game that had the least amount of time remaining, the player would at most only be able to make one move in each of their "preferred" games before being forced to play their losing games. They may still decide to wait out the 3/max days but they would have to do this for all their games and so hopefully see it as futile and either play within the spirit or leave the site. Forced turns could be the exception to the rule. |
