The Game of Backgammon

This is not a gambling site, and I'm happy it's not.

But i disagree with the notion that without cash wagers, the doubling cube is unnecessary. It's a lot like saying the person who wins the most hands is the best poker player. If this was a non-gambling poker site, I imagine you'd still have players wagering with "fun chips" or "zoo points" - am I right?

Folding a lousy hand at poker is not "losing" if you stayed out of the betting. Likewise, losing at Backgammon with the cube at 1, or 2, is not the same as losing with the cube at 32, or 64.

If the doubling cube is not used, and therefore bears no influence on player ratings, you will find that ratings will remain sluggish and unrelated to player ability. You will also find that lovers of the game try the site, and leave soon after.

Believe me, you're going to have some rather shrewd players here, languishing in the low 1500's, but they won't be here long...

The Doubling Cube

ZooEscape.com is a work in progress, so many new features, such as the doubling cube, will be added in the future!

Thanks for the feedback!

doubling cube is a joke, but gammon & backgammon bonus points would be cool.

I find doubling cube not serious. I know from experience that players are doubling even if it is obvious they lose. Much more important would be if "gammon" would give you double points and "backgammon" triple point (just as example). It is ridiculous to get 3 or 4 points winning with a gammon or backgammon. thx for the nice site

didn't see these b4 I posted Pls check Cruel-ist's thread on reseg's

I posted, in more detail there, but as much as I'm enjoying these games, how can it be back gammon w/o gammons and backgammons, much less the pressure of the cube! I'm glad to hear that development continues.

again the cube...

I was surprised to see a player of Barebacky's skill downplay the importance of the doubling cube. I'm playing several games with Barebacky at the moment, and look forward to playing him to THE BITTER END in the ones I will ultimately lose.
