We now have a name! The upcoming double-elimination event will be called BBL Legacy Cup and all Top 16 players who earned their spots there already confirmed their participation.

Thanks to the new AI capabilities, we now have a new logo for this tournament too   you can see it on the BBL Legacy Cup tab on the Results page.

Upon completion of BBL-30, we will have the exact seeding for the Legacy Cup based on the total points earned by players in all prior tournaments. If more than one player has the same number of points, the player(s) with the highest ratings would be seeded higher.

All matches in this cup will be held on the best-of-three basis, all played in the BG format only, similar to our regular tournaments. Since it’s a double elimination format, any player who lost one match will be able to continue in the lower bracket until they lose another match. The winners will continue to play in the top bracket until the final remaining players from each bracket meet in the final match to claim the BBL Legacy Cup championship.

If the winner of the top bracket loses the final match to the winner of the lower bracket, this would be their first loss in the tournament. In this case, one extra “super-final” game will be played to determine the ultimate BBL Legacy Cup winner.

The seeding for the first BBL Legacy Cup has been completed. The best-of-three backgammon matches can now begin!

When challenging your opponent, make sure to select 2 days per move and note “BBL Legacy Cup” on your invite. Report your results on the website upon completion of your matches as usual.
